Do not do what I did. And I mean it. You see I decided to redo my kitchen, and it was actually addition and the renovation at the same time, and while we were deep in renovation of our kitchen, I got a wild idea to do a small bathroom renovations, as well. I thought, well while we were in the mess, why not add a small amount of extra dust.

Ok, while I did cause some issues with my wife, the end result were awesome. She quietly agreed too, however, I should mention, she was not too happy about the ideas of the small bathroom renovations cause it turned into HUGE bathroom renovation.

Now this is what I did. I put together a plan of what I really had to do with the little space we had. Owners we purchased the house from did a little fixing up, but nothing like we did. First off there was this HUGE tub in there and a little sink. It just had to go. I wanted space and functionality, plus at some point in the future we would add another master bedroom in, so I was thinking about that as well. And at some point my mother would come to live with us.

So thinking about all the above, I planned it like this:

Get rid of the tub, and add in the shower cabin. The shower by itself needed to have elderly accessible feature and I wanted to add in the arm holder in the shower as well. While my preference on the shower door was to be from glass, we chose plastic because of the future use. Now, ripping the tub out, created extra space, so we ended up taking down all the sheet rock and that was the greatest thing we did. You see, there was big space in one wall to add in built in cabinets, creating even more extra space in that restroom.

Now, I have to say we did have one problem, the floor under the tub was bad. This was actually a great thing about doing this renovation as the issue would have gotten inside the foundation for sure! So we ended up adding attic insulation and also the floor insulation as well, as the new floor needed to be put in.

Now the only thing that is probably a mistake is, we added in the double sink with a cabinet underneath it. Now, that is not the mistake, but since we had to add in tiles, considering that my mom will use it in the future, that might be a mistake. So there is nothing I could do about it this time. Maybe if we did the laminate floor it would be better, but I suppose the time will tell now if it?s to late.

And as for my wife, the frustration of the fix-up work was difficult[/spin, but now, she [spin]loves it and not a soul can believe what we actually did with such a small place.
